Secure Data Destruction

Secure Data Destruction

Innovent Recycling offers a range of destruction methods when it comes to destroying your data. Whether it be on-site or off-site we are able to destroy your data using approved methods and issue serial-number-tied destruction certificates for every hard drive we destroy.

Software Wiping (off-site)

Innovent uses the HMG IS 5 Enhanced (3 pass verify) erasure method to wipe all hard drives. This is the current recognized UK standard. Enhanced overwriting involves three passes; each sector is overwritten first with 1s, then with 0s, and then with randomly generated 1s and 0s. It is impossible to retrieve data that have already been overwritten and the process is irreversible. We then issue serial-number-tied data destruction certificates for every hard drive.

For any devices that fail during wiping, we will automatically shred the drive to ensure total security.

Shredding (off-site)

We are able to shred any data bearing devices including hard drives, magnetic tapes, floppy disks, USB sticks, optical media, mobile phones, chip & pin devices and many more. The hard drive shredding process completely destroys the drive platters, mechanisms, and the electronic components rendering the data unrecoverable. Once shredded, Innovent then produces a serial-number-tied data destruction certificate for every hard drive and other devices (on request).

All shredded fragments are then sent to an aluminum smelter which allows the material to re-enter the manufacturing process.

We also offer a Secure Document Shredding service. Get in touch to find out more 0800 612 5674

Crushing (on-site)

Innovent are able to crush your media at your office using a 30-tonne press, punching an irreparable hole through each hard drive. This completely destroys the drive's platters, rippling and fracturing the magnetic surfaces and rendering the drive's data unrecoverable. We then produce a serial-number-tied destruction certificate for each hard drive as standard. For other types of media this can also be recorded on request.

This method is used to destroy your data at your site, in front of you. The drives are then transported back to our facility, using satellite tracked vehicles, and are put through our shredding process for ultimate security.

Degaussing (on-site)

A degausser is a machine that erases data by reducing or eliminating information that is stored magnetically on your equipment. When exposed to the powerful magnetic field of a degausser, the magnetic data on a tape or hard disk is neutralized, or erased. Degaussing is the guaranteed form of hard drive erasure, as such; it serves as the standard method of data destruction. Innovent then produces a serial number tied data destruction certificate for each hard drive and any other device (on request).
